Lina 3 weeks agoThis restaurant was recommended to us, and it definitely did not disappoint. While the prices are a bit above average for Chicago, the food quality makes it worth a visit. The vegetarian coconut curry was absolutely outstanding — my husband was genuinely impressed and called it the best dish of the evening. The broccolini was also delicious, and we really appreciated that the kitchen was willing to prepare it with regular oil instead of butter. It’s always a great sign when a restaurant is happy to accommodate guests’ preferences. The scallops were very well prepared and flavorful. My only suggestion would be to include some kind of side dish with the entrée, especially at this price point. A simple serving of mashed potatoes or another accompaniment would have made the dish feel more complete. The Spicy Margarita was excellent as well. The atmosphere is warm, stylish, and inviting — the kind of place that’s perfect for a date night or a relaxed evening out. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and would happily return.
L Wolftowns 3 weeks agoGreat brunch spot. Was a little hesitant to eat here since it’s in front of the bean, but was pleasantly surprised! Service was amazing, atmosphere was pleasant, food was incredible. Would highly recommend the steak and eggs, hash, and especially the zucchini sandwich. All incredible!
Lucas Plocinski 5 months agoPHENOMENAL Michigan Avenue restaurant. On an extremely chilly, 8-degree Chicago winter day, The Gage was the perfect place for my college friends and I to escape to in the cold to enjoy warm, gourmét comfort food. Every dish we tried was outstanding. The Coconut Curry was deeply flavorful and comforting, with a rich, aromatic broth that felt tailor-made for winter. The Coq Au Vin seemed beautifully tender and hearty, with layers of savory flavor that tasted slow-cooked to perfection. Their Chips and Curry were far more elevated than expected—crispy, satisfying, and paired with a bold, well-seasoned curry sauce. The Agnolotti was equally impressive: delicate pasta, perfectly cooked, and filled with balanced, indulgent flavors such as the mushrooms. Expect to pay more—around $40–$70 per person for a standard meal, and higher if you opt for novelty or signature items like their steak—but the quality absolutely matches the price. The atmosphere during dinner was dimly lit, warm, and inviting, and the staff were kind, attentive, and efficient throughout our visit. You’ll likely be dining alongside large business groups whether you come solo, as a pair, or with family, but they were not at all bothersome to our experience at least during dinner. Overall, an exceptional dining spot that delivers great food, atmosphere, and service. A truly FANTASTIC Michigan Avenue restaurant.
Jesse Rose 2 weeks agoWe just had a ridiculously good brunch. We were walking to the art museum but needed to kill an hour. So we stopped in not realizing they weren't open yet. But everyone was so kind to us. I got the avacado toast and hashbrowns. My husband got the scones and bacon. We were absolutely blown away. Like was it more expensive then a diner? Sure. But it was 100% worth it. Everything tasted fresh and made with love. Would recommend for anyone looking for a slightly fancy stop
Bruce Johnson 5 months agoWe went for Restaurant Week late lunch. The food was very good while service was great. We had a nice booth and found it very conversational friendly. Next time we will explore more of menu and try bar seating as well as Happy Hour.
