Tina Rachel Galitsa a month agoExceptional food, can totally see how they held a Michelin star. They had a lot of local dishes available and although there weren't any vegetarian options, the chef created a vegetarian dish on the fly for our meat-free group members. The servers were incredibly enthusiastic and interesting. You can also see that they are very passionate about the things that the restaurant, the dishes the restaurant offers. We were very lucky to grab a reservation for the size of our group during a conference weekend. You definitely should make a reservation here if you're coming for dinner and even more so on the weekends. We were a group of six and so reservation was definitely required
Aaron Kowalski 4 months agoI’ve eaten at Cochon Butcher a number of times and it is my favorite lunch restaurant in New Orleans. This was my first time to Cochon Restaurant. It definitely lives up to the outstanding reviews and provided a tremendous meal. I loved the fresh dinner rolls that came out with a local IPA I ordered, as I sat at the bar to eat. I tried the fried meat pie appetizer and it was great - like an empanada with some slightly spicy garnish to dip into. The namesake Louisiana Cochon was off the charts. It was tender, a little fatty, savory goodness. It was on a bed of pickled cabbage and turnips that were accentuated with small pieces of chicharrones. Amazing. Finally, I had the lemon buttermilk icebox pie - at the recommendation of the bar tender - and it was lemony perfection. Thank goodness I had a 20 minute walk back to my hotel. I was so full and so incredibly happy with this meal. Highly recommend.
Jeremy Cattani 2 months agoIs it possible to have too much great food? We’ve been trying places new to us on this trip, but we had to come back here. The best of many excellent choices starts with the crawfish pie; I would eat that every day if I could. The house made charcuterie board was incredible. The headcheese could have set more solidly, but it was a great base for the mustard & relish. The other salumi would almost certainly please our Italian family & friends (purists might raise their eyebrows at the slightly smoky salami, but I loved it). My ribeye was awesome. I shared it with my husband, who could cut it with a butter knife. Our server recommended the pineapple upside down cake over the bread pudding & she was right; that might be the best dessert I’ve had all week. And my old fashioned was perfect. I’ve recommended this to all my friends who said they were going to the Crescent City. I still will. Maybe someday we’ll get to their Butcher restaurant next door…. This was all-around the best meal we had on our trip.
Kam Schenk 3 months agoWhere do I start? The service was prompt, friendly and attentive. Shout out to Maddy and company! The food? Unbelievable. My son told me this was the place to go and boy was he right. We sat at the “Food Bar”… So happy I experienced this. For true food lovers, look no further. Thanks to Chef John for making our experience unforgettable as well as Sean; his cooking is the reason we came here.
Nora Fletcher 5 months agoWe really enjoyed this place! Wonderful service and really good food. We really enjoyed the gumbo and the gator bites, as well as the crab gratin. For the brisket, it was good but we actually enjoyed the deviled egg potato salad next to it so much that we ordered more. We also preferred the pineapple upside down cake over the banana pudding, but both were still good. We both tried the amaretto sour and whiskey sour, and greatly enjoyed them both. This is a great place and has such nice staff. Well worth the visit!
