We passed by on the way back from Union station. The venue space was much larger than expected and the decor is also nice. The waitress was fairly knowledge, but spoke a bit too quickly to people without much experience in German food The salmon looks quite well cooked, yet tasted a bit raw. The beef stew had an interesting texture, but pasta was a bit more sour than we would have liked. The veal was acceptable. The side dishes were more appetizing

With my family for Mother's Day this year and we sat on the patio. The food was delicious and we got lots of appetizers and drinks. It's kid friendly we had two babies and a toddler with us and had no issues the toddler really liked looking at the little fountain on the outside patio and watching the fish which kept him entertained while we ate. The food was delicious I was stuffed by the end. The smoked sausage was my favorite and absolute delicious!

Brie was an excellent server!! Please ask for her. Wow! She was so nice and patient in explaining all the Austrian words, food, and flavors. We had a 5:30 reservation and arrived a few minutes early and were seated immediately by the fantastic and competent hostesses. We decided to have the soup of the day which was potato. It was not like American potato soup that is so heavy and creamy and fattening. This was a lovely light potato broth soup with lots of garlic and some celery. I thought the bowl was actually a little too big, even when my wife and I were sharing. So next time I will get a cup. We got the bread basket, which we were enamored with. I found a pit in the olive bread, but I guess that’s to be expected. The whipped butter with paprika was nice as was the cream cheese type spread. We shared the Hungarian goulash for dinner, which Brie was nice enough to split for us on two separate plates. I would like to come back and try the pork shank on a Wednesday night. The atmosphere is dark wood and brick. The tables are far enough apart that you don’t feel like you’re on top of each other. I can see why Grünauer he is one of the top 5 restaurants on OpenTable in KC. Delish!!

We have been enjoying and recommending Grunauer for years. Easily the best wiener schnitzel outside of Vienna which isn't surprising since they have a grunauer there as well. I don't drink coffee but my husband and Dad absolutely rave about the coffee saying it's some of the best they've ever had. Dad also loves the Monday Jager schnitzel. We've had great service over the years (except for one bad experience with someone that should never be working in the customer service industry but that has never been repeated) Megan tonight was top notch. One of the best servers I've ever had. It was mentioned that they used to have tafelspitz as one of their day of the week specials and I'm here to say please please bring that back! Grunauer is one of my most recommended restaurants. You can't go wrong here.

This was my first time tasting austrian cuisine so definitely a new experience. Though I cannot speak to the authenticity of the meal I was well prepared and I really enjoyed the combination of the wienershnitzel and lingon berries with lemon. Beer was cold and paired well with the dish and I recommend trying the escargot if you're looking for a new experience. Definitely get a reservation because the dining can get full.
