Julianne Crea 4 months agoCame by on opening night. Tried a variety of dishes. First off, the vibe is really nice. We live nearby and it’s been neat to see how they have transformed the patio space and interior. Really nice to dine outside, and the music wasn’t too loud (the fans were a little strong though, I was somehow chilly and it was 80F). We got mocktails, lamb shank, wood fired pita, baba ghanoush, feta & cucumber, glazed carrots, cauliflower schwarma, radicchio salad, basque cheesecake. Overall the standouts were the carrots, lamb, and cheesecake. Just some suggestions since they’re brand new: some plating things could be improved— like the radicchio had a balsamic glaze that was only on one small part of the plate and we kind of missed it until the end and it made the salad taste better / more interesting. Pita could be a little fluffier and maybe 2 more triangles could be in the baskets brought with the dips. The food could’ve had more salt and acid, and just be a little more flavorful, in general. Would recommend more substantial vegetarian “entree”-like options and clearer labeling. A few things seemed like they’d cooled a little and weren’t as hot as they should have been. It was still solid and we had great service, especially for day one! Optimistic that some of the timing etc will improve. We look forward to coming back again and are excited for a new addition on Barton Springs Rd. Really enjoyed the ambience. Also interested in coming for late night drinks that we saw on the menu.
Risto Andonovski 2 weeks agoWe had a very enjoyable dinner overall. The food was excellent—the octopus and sea bass were perfectly cooked, and the chocolate mousse was the highlight of the evening. The only reason for 3 stars on service was that our waiter seemed little frustrated while our group was deciding between still and sparkling water. We had a $580 dinner for five people, and some of us come from different countries and backgrounds, so communication and decisions can naturally take a little longer. We chose to spend our evening here, and a little more patience would have made the experience feel much more welcoming. That said, the food truly shines, and with just a bit more warmth in the service, Oria could be an outstanding dining experience. We'll definitely remember that chocolate mousse!
Kamryn McKell 3 weeks agoHighly recommend - great new spot in Austin! The chicken and steak were fantastic, will have to come back to try the whole sea bass. Matt was our server and he was great, had a number of recommendations and was very attentive!
Kate Korniienko 2 months agoThe restaurant has a very nice atmosphere and a pleasant vibe. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end. The service was not very friendly, and I also didn’t have luck with the food. I love tartare, but here I could barely taste the fish — it was mostly onion. I actually like onions, so I didn’t mind too much, but it honestly felt like it was just onion with a hint of fish. The cauliflower was also burnt, and you could clearly taste it.
Corwin Scherer 2 weeks agoFor the quality of food 9/10, the tap water was a 3/10 and I have never been a snob for water but with everything else being so perfect the bad water really burst our bubble and to learn their bottled water being $10 ruined my enjoyment of everything else. Reasonably priced but pricy if you want to enjoy everything allá carte
