Larry Belkwater 3 months agoAbsolutely Outstanding Food and Great service! Stopped in when they opened and was welcomed by friendly staff and had a great server (Allan)! The Kansas City Eggrolls were a great start followed by a Brisket sandwich with Baked Beans and Mac & Cheese. Also loved trying all of the sauces on the table. They were doing a photoshoot 📸 for new menu items and drinks and I was able to try one of the new April drink specials, the "Spring Strawberry Whiskey Smash"! Wow, what a great drink! Can't wait to return to try the other drinks and new menu items!!
Mohammed Junaid 3 weeks agoLovely barbeque joint located in Milwaukee's historic third ward serving up delicious smoked meats and platters. The wings were crispy with a mild smoky flavour and served with ranch and celery sticks. Excellent value for happy hour. I opted for a 2-meat platter with brisket as my meat, mac and cheese and a baked potato for thr sides. The brisket itself was fatty and cooked well with a nice smoky bark. It paired well with the sides and the different sauces. Although some cuts were a little drier than others they still had a good texture and flavor. Overall, I'd come here again with friends for good food and great vibes with great severs.
Sanjida Sapna 2 months agoThere's a moment when you walk into Smoke Shack and stop moving because your nose needs a second to figure out what's happening. It's wood smoke and something rich and sweet and savory all at once, and then you see the low lighting and the bourbon bottles lined up behind the bar and you realize you're probably not leaving anytime soon. The restaurant is tucked between bigger buildings on Milwaukee Street and it still somehow manages to feel like it has its own personality, rustic and warm and unhurried. We went on a Friday and the place was buzzing but not chaotic. The brisket here is the real reason people keep coming back. It arrives unsauced, which is the correct approach, because the bark on the outside has this deep, almost lacquered crust that doesn't need anything on top of it. There are five regional sauces on the table and they're all worth trying, but the meat holds its own without any of them. I kept circling back to the mac and cheese between bites because it was just too good to ignore, the kind of creamy, slightly smoky version that makes you wonder why side dishes are ever treated like an afterthought. The cornbread was the kind you eat in silence out of respect. The pulled pork was my friend's order and I stole enough of it to confirm it belongs in the same conversation as the brisket. That 13-hour smoke time they post on the menu is not a gimmick, you can taste the patience in every bite. The baby back ribs rounded out our table and they had a good chew without fighting you, the bark snapping clean when you bit in. The bourbon list is genuinely impressive and the staff knows it, which makes it easy to get a recommendation rather than just standing there squinting at labels. Service was attentive without hovering and the whole experience felt like the kind of dinner you replay on the drive home. If you're in Milwaukee and you pass on this for somewhere flashier, that's your mistake to live with.
Danielle Parsell 2 months agoWe started with pork belly dip which was delicious. I had the salad with chicken and my husband had the smoked chicken with corn bread and Mac n cheese. Very nice portions for price. Thank you kitchen staff! Bartender made an amazing old fashion-Not sure if that was Fonzi or the Lady behind bar. Fonzi was our server and he was amazing. Super kind and did everything we would expect from a server. This was our first time here and will definitely be back. Such a hidden gem.
Jack Kenneth a month agoAllan rocked, helped us find the best option when one meat was sold out. Also gave us some insight on the band playing this weekend. Also helped me find a nice bourbon for my drink. Thank you Allan you da man. Love this place and its brisket, hell yeah BBQ week god bless smoke house #arbysdoesnothavethemeatssmokeshackdoes Ignore the few noodles in the photo I had to stop my feral gf for a second because she wouldn’t put down the fork, I don’t even blame her. Also great margarita highly recommend, guess what, she devoured that too.
