Cathy Wright 5 months agoWe chose this restaurant while visiting the area because of its chef and great downtown location, and while there were some highlights like the excellent service, the experience was disappointing. The best part of the evening was our service. Emma and Rachel were attentive, efficient, and genuinely friendly. The ambiance was also lovely. The lighting was dimmed, the noise level wasn't loud at all, and the space was beautifully decorated. We ordered the pork dish, which was tasty, though the portion was unexpectedly small, roughly three ounces, while the risotto portion was disproportionately large. Our first major disappointment was the blue mesa tamale. Unfortunately, it was not visually appealing and consisted almost entirely of masa with very little filling. We returned the dish, and the manager was kind enough to remove it from our bill, which we appreciated. Dessert was another letdown. While the crème brûlée was beautifully presented, the texture was gelatinous rather than creamy, as if it were made with Jell-O instead of cream. The berry topping, however, was enjoyable. We were surprised that a restaurant that had such good rating given our experience; but, we chalk it up to just a bad night.
DAVID PEARSON a month agoAlways a great stop! I stay here every time I visit Tucson. St Cruz is fabulous for cocktails, breakfast and dinner! Ask for Steve! He will take great care of you!
Paul Richard 2 months agoI was there last night for dinner with friends. Two of us ordered the braised pork tamales. Honestly, probably the worst tamales I've ever had. The menu did say they were made with mesquite masa. They tasted like they were made with sawdust. And for $30 for 2 tamales they at least should be edible. We managed to eat one and that was enough. If we hadn't been with friends I would have sent it back to the kitchen. My friends ordered the steak and another ordered the lime scampi and they appeared to enjoyed their meal. We also ordered the roasted beets. 3 little round pieces the size of a 1/2 dollar with goat cheese in between. Tasty but a very small portion Not a very satisfying dinner
Tabitha Sanders 2 weeks agoWe came to the Leo Kent during a very emotional day — our group was in town for a funeral and hoping to gather for a quiet drink before the next ceremony. Even though the St. Cruz Restaurant bar was closed, the manager welcomed us in with so much kindness and understanding. That alone meant the world.Steve, the bartender, was absolutely wonderful. He made every drink perfectly, treated us with genuine care, and created such a comforting atmosphere during a difficult moment. The space itself is warm, stylish, and incredibly inviting — it felt like exactly where we needed to be. I can’t wait to come back under happier circumstances. If you’re in Tucson, you should definitely stop by and experience it for yourself.
Arielle O 3 months agoThe St Cruz Restaurant in The Leo Kent Downtown Tucson was a delightful surprise. Cozy atmosphere with great food and drinks. Not the crazy club vibe youd expect near the university, thank goodness! Although Sergio took care of us at the bar, David was the star of the evening. We weren't even in his section but he took time to answer questions and take our order, which wasn't even on the menu. The delicious late night frys were phenomenal!
