Lived up to the Michelin hype. Unique dinner style with quick bites, small plates, vegetables and platters. You can mix and match to create your personalized sort of fancy multiple course tasting menu. For the two of us, server recommended either one platter (larger) and just a couple side smaller plates, OR go wild with a whole bunch of small plates and quick plates. We chose the latter and loved it. We ordered Roasted Nantes carrots, chicken drumsticks, shrimp beignets, tots, tahdig rice, grilled half moon bay artichoke, canon bar mix. Everything was delicious, clean feeling, presented well and included unique ingredients we got to look up as the courses progressed. The roasted carrots and chicken drumsticks were our favorites. They mentioned most of the menu rotates frequently but the tots and chicken drumsticks are their standards. Server was incredibly attentive, kind and had great recommendations. Vibes were modern, trendy, abstract artistic combined with rustic, cabin, which perfectly encapsulates Sacramento. Located in a very unassuming industrial area on the fringe of East Sac and midtown.

What a great place to have a superb dinner in Sac. We were seated in the patio area. We got lucky and had great weather, so the whole time we had a good breeze and nice natural light. The food, all farm-to-fork and seasonal, was superb. From the chips and sauce to the cheesecake. The chicken was well-cooked and had tons of flavor. All other small plates were well executed and nicely complemented the chicken. The cocktails have been one of the best we have had in town. Service was top-notch and super helpful. Overall, a great experience and would definitely recommend trying it. I will be going back!

Have dined at Canon multiple times, and it continues to be one of my favorite dining experiences in Sacramento. Everything feels very thoughtfully curated, from the wine selection and cocktails to the shareable dishes that always bring unique and unexpected flavors. Their Mother’s Day brunch especially impressed me. The variety and quality of the buffet were incredible, and despite how busy it was, the staff handled everything seamlessly. Food was constantly being refreshed, drinks were always taken care of, and the attentiveness of the staff made the whole experience feel elevated without being overdone. Canon consistently delivers food that feels inventive, well-executed, and genuinely exciting to eat. Definitely one of those places that keeps you coming back.

EDIT: ordered a 2nd time but got cheesecakes to-go. It was so sloppy and they left the seeds in the kumquats and were cheap and stingy with the kumquats and honeycomb. And just threw on some flowers. Notice the in- restaurant portion vs the to-go… so they just care about their image and presentation in the restaurant but don’t really take pride in all their food… so fake Got scallops (so good and different!), oysters, roast duck and potatoes. And basque cheesecake with kumquat n lemon, honeycomb for dessert (BEST cheesecake i ever had). The atmosphere is not cozy. They have these tiny tables in the middle. It’s just this large room. You feel so exposed. Also the food is nice looking and “fancy” but it’s not the satisfying type of food just fyi.

My husband took me here for our 26th anniversary and I am so glad he did. The food was so delicious and the service was even better. The tots were the best I have ever had!
