Jennifer Covington a month agoWe had an amazing brunch on Saturday and our server, Valentino, was fantastic. He was knowledgeable about the menu items and attentive to us even though it was busy in the restaurant. The quality of the food far exceeded our expectations. We enjoyed trying so many Balkan dishes that were bursting with flavor! Unlimited drink packages added to our experience. The venue is beautiful with cherry blossoms dripping from the ceiling in every room. It was such a treat, we want to visit other locations!
Tone Wang 3 months agoI was genuinely surprised that a buffet-style restaurant could be this delicious and keep me coming back again and again. Every dish tastes wonderful and has such a comforting, homey quality. The steak, in particular, is exceptional and honestly tastes Michelin-star worthy. The flavors are beautifully balanced, and nearly every dish is worth trying. It feels like opening a box of chocolates—each time you discover a new dish, there’s something different to enjoy, and every plate has its own unique personality. I truly miss those days. My husband and I used to visit this restaurant every Sunday.
Maira Z a month agoVisited Ambar Capitol Hill recently and overall had a good experience. The restaurant itself is beautiful, with a really nice ambiance and cherry blossom-inspired decor that made the space feel warm and aesthetic, not sure if it’s seasonal for spring, but it looked lovely. The service was also very good and attentive throughout the meal. The food, however, was a bit average for me. It wasn’t bad, but it didn’t particularly stand out considering the pricing. Since it’s a Balkan small-plates style restaurant, portions are expected to be smaller, but I still found the à la carte menu relatively expensive for what you get. We ended up spending over $50 per person anyway, which is around the same price as their unlimited tasting/menu option. Looking back, I’d definitely recommend going for the fixed-price menu instead of ordering à la carte, since it seems like much better value and lets you try more dishes.
Kea Avery 3 months agoI recently visited Ambar Capitol Hill for brunch and had such a great experience. This is easily one of the best brunch spots in DC, especially if you’re looking for something a little different. For $37, you get unlimited small Balkan plates, which is such a unique concept. Everything we tried was flavorful, well-seasoned, and came out fresh. I loved being able to try a variety of dishes without feeling limited to just one entrée. They also offer bottomless drink packages (mimosas, margaritas, and more), which really adds to the overall brunch experience. The atmosphere was lively but still comfortable, making it perfect for a date, brunch with friends, or even a celebration. Service was attentive, and the food kept coming at a great pace. Overall, I would definitely recommend Ambar if you’re looking for brunch in Washington, DC with great food, value, and a unique dining experience.
Grace McKay 3 months agoI was trying to get my family to come here for a few days while staying nearby. We did the unlimited lunch ($33), didn't get the unlinited drinks just bc we wanted espresso martinis but there is a good lunch drink deal too. Absolutely everything (and we got almost everything) was amazing. So so good. Fast, food service. Wish we ate slower if anything. The brussel sprouts and beet tzatiki were a stand out. But really everything was great. Would recommend to everyone. Great outdoor seating too.
