George Marneris 4 months agoIf you’re reading this because you haven’t already been convinced to check out this historic establishment by their rating alone, well then let me tell ya… put it on your list! Great vibe and ambiance, and service was top notch. The porkchop, which I don’t frequently order out, was a solid choice! Thick cut with excellent char yet succulent. The scallion added a touch of sweetness and bite, was a nice touch. The Swiss chard was well balanced and not bitter, bacon chunks added nice flavor and a smoky element but an overly one either. And the “grit cake” had a nice cheesy crust, soft sweet and creamy inside. The mussels were great. Broth was bright, sweet and citrusy. One of my favorite things in life is sopping up mussels broth with a nicely charred crusty piece of bread. And this didn’t disappoint! Bread pudding was a great way to end this amazing experience! It was everything you want in a bread pudding, warm, gooey, and chewy. Look forward to returning to try their well renowned oysters.
Keonna G a month agoEven though I’ve been here many times, this visit gave me a chance to experience more of the establishment, and it reminded me why this place remains such a popular DC staple. The restaurant itself is beautiful, full of character, and has an atmosphere that feels both historic and lively. I started at the bar while waiting for my table and decided to order a few appetizers. The fried oyster deviled eggs were amazing, especially after adding a little Tabasco for extra flavor. The hot honey carrots were tender and well prepared, although I would have loved a little more sauce. Later, I tried the mussels, which were excellent, and paired everything with a sangria that was smooth, refreshing, and absolutely delicious. The service was one of the highlights of the evening. The bartender was wonderful and had such a warm, welcoming personality. The hostesses were constantly smiling and cheerful despite how busy the restaurant was, which created a great first impression from the moment I walked in. Charlie, my server, was honestly one of the best servers I’ve ever had. He was entertaining, funny, attentive, and incredibly customer-focused. He made the dining experience even more enjoyable and deserves recognition for the outstanding service he provided. The only downside was the restroom. While the restaurant itself is beautiful and well maintained, the bathroom had an unpleasant odor. I think adding automatic air fresheners or addressing the ventilation could make a big difference. Overall, the food, drinks, atmosphere, and exceptional service far outweighed that one issue. Between the delicious appetizers, fantastic sangria, and memorable service from Charlie and the staff, this was another great experience at Old Ebbitt Grill, and I’ll definitely be back again.
Alex Valenzuela a month agoVisited Old Ebbitt Grill with my family on May 27, 2026, and had a great experience. I ordered the Spicy Sausage Garganelli, a dozen oysters, and two Sierra Nevada Hazy Lil' Thing IPA drafts. Everything was flavorful especially the oysters, and the beer was a nice pairing with the meal. What stood out the most was the service. Our waiter, Stephen, was friendly, fast, and knew the menu well. He was able to answer our questions and recommend a few items, which made ordering a lot easier. Overall, good food, good drinks, and great service. I would definitely come back the next time I'm in Washington, D.C.
Lindah 4 months agoOld Ebbitt Grill is a classic D.C. experience — great atmosphere, rich history, and excellent food. The service was friendly and efficient even when busy. The oysters were super fresh and yummy. The overall vibe felt both elegant and welcoming. Perfect spot to relax after exploring the city. I would definitely come back.
Asi 22 a month agoWe had an amazing dinner here! The prices are very good for the quality and food. The oysters were the best I ever had and the server explained that the restaurant does their own oyster tasting. We also ordered a filet mignon with a 1lb lobster and scallops. Everything was delicious, the lobster was very tender! For dessert we had the blueberry cobbler which was also amazing. The service was impeccable and the atmosphere was so cool - they have a little pamphlet explaining the history of the restaurant and the art collection. It was really cool to learn about that background!
