Dan Ziemer a month agoFirst, let me say....we LOVE Maison Margaux.....have had dinner there several times, it has been exquisite.....great service, impeccable food, atmosphere that is Ce fantastic! So, with sadness, feel like they missed the mark on Mother's Day brunch.....servers were helpful & professional, but they seemed understaffed....there were staff wandering, looking to drop off food, not the normal scene.....the food. French toast was pretty good, but everything else, was lackluster, just ok....not sure if this was there first foray into brunch?? Would encourage anyone, still go for dinner, you won't regret it......this maybe part of a growing trend of pricey special holiday menus at restaurants, without the value added......next year, like lots of others, we will celebrate with a brunch on a non holiday weekend....spend good money, but get the value and enjoyment from the experience....my reputation is on the line, for pulling off wonderful Mother's Day events, after all........lol Hope this helps you!
Jaya 2 months agoWe came to Maison Margaux as a party of 7 and I must say that I was pleasantly surprised. The food was well seasoned, fresh, & truly is authentic French food. It was our first time there, and my birthday as well, and our server, Emily, made sure we had the best service ever. She was very patient but most importantly personable. Made it feel like home the way she quickly made us feel comfortable!
Mathew Heart 6 months agoMaison Margaux offers a beautifully designed space with an upscale yet inviting atmosphere. We opted for valet parking, which was convenient given the location. We started with the bouillabaisse, which had a rich, well-balanced broth and perfectly cooked seafood. The French onion soup, however, leaned too sweet for our liking, which threw off the traditional savory depth we were expecting. For entrées, the Pomme Napoleon was a standout side, beautifully layered and flavorful. The Grand Wagyu Steak au Poivre was cooked to perfection with a bold peppercorn sauce, and the short ribs were fall-apart tender with deep, comforting flavors. Dessert was a highlight--both the crème brûlée and the apple bread slice with ice cream were excellent, offering just the right amount of sweetness to end the meal on a high note. Service was attentive, and we especially appreciated how the staff was careful and accommodating when it came to allergies, ensuring everything was prepared safely. The attention to detail added to the overall experience. A few minor tweaks (like balancing the onion soup's sweetness) would make this a five-star experience, but overall, Maison Margaux is a solid choice for a refined French dining experience in Minneapolis. Would definitely return!
Paige Miller 6 months agoWe had our wedding at Maison Margaux and it was absolutely perfect! The event staff made sure everything flowed and followed our plans for the night. The staff checked in with us throughout the night and all in all, we found the pricing to be very reasonable considering how good the food and drinks were. Highly recommend considering for weddings and events!
Julia Nelson 4 months agoMy boyfriend and I came to Maison Margaux on Valentine's Day and had an insane experience. I felt like I was on an episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm. *Note no hate to the staff -- it seemed insane and underprepared and I don't think it was any fault of the staff. everyone we talked to was very friendly!!!* We arrived for our 9:45pm dinner reservation right on time and checked in. The host let us know there were a few people waiting ahead of us but it should be fast. (He was doing his best). There were actually a LOT of people ahead of us (8 groups I think). After 30 mins we were given complimentary half glasses of prosecco. We were seated an hour later at 10:45. We had reserved the Salon (underground bar) but were seated upstairs in a less vibey space. A waitress came over and poured water noting it was still water. It was sparkling, which was fine, but then refills were still, so it kept being diluted sparkling. Anyways whatever. We were starving at this point so ordered quickly. We ordered scallops, steak, lobster pie and broccolini. The scallops were actually wonderful! Great crust and flavor and cooked perfectly. The broccolini came out and I started to get nervous. It was not broccolini, but rather broccoli. It was thrown together with half melted cheese. It was a salt bomb to eat. I think they actually ran out of broccolini and were improvising, but come on. Then the steak and lobster pie came out. The steak was a wagyu top sirloin. We ordered it medium and it looked good upon arrival, but was incredibly chewy. It was not warm enough and the fries were limp. It felt like it had been sitting under a warming lamp for way too long. The lobster pie was honestly awful. The veggies inside were somehow still crunchy, the dough felt raw, and there was not much lobster. The cocktails were great but we might have just been desperate. Again not blaming the staff themselves as I'm sure there was just poor planning involved, but service was incredibly slow. The kitchen seemed to be yelling at the servers and there was a guy in a suit running around asking for people's names who were waiting but then never coming back. Truly insane vibes. The saving grace is we were able to laugh about it. Want to note we were 100% good sports and understanding of the situation, but to top it off, after a million apologies from everyone for the slowness and craziness, absolutely nothing was comped from the bill. Not even an offer for a free dessert! We spent almost $300. I've had a great experience at Maison Margaux for events (great sliders!) but there are better restaurants in the north loop for food and atmosphere.
