Brett Allen 8 months ago⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Easily the best part of my trip to KC! Whenever I travel for work, one of the things I look forward to most is diving into the local food scene. When I was in KC for a week, I had a full list of spots I wanted to try. But for the first time I can remember… I didn’t make it past one place. After some quick math, out of maybe 14 breakfasts and dinners that week… I ate here 11 times. Eleven. Times. Why would anyone possibly do that? Well, have one meal here and you’ll understand. The menu is insane—like “I want one of everything” insane—and the execution is flawless. Every single dish comes out looking like a work of art. A few personal standouts: the chopped club, mushroom Benedict, banana bread French toast, lamb sliders, and the steak vegetable bowl, Tenders, Brie. I’ve worked in kitchens, and this was genuinely one of the most impressive displays of culinary detail I’ve ever seen. But here’s the crazy part: the food wasn’t even the best thing about this place. The people are. On a good day at most restaurants, you might remember your server’s name. Here? I swear I know 80% of the staff—Blue, Franky, Lucas, Lauren, Nicole, Brittani, and Franky’s mom (the sous chef!). Every single one of them is kind, hardworking, and somehow makes you feel like family. I’m leaving KC today, and honestly, what I’ll miss most isn’t the BBQ or the skyline—it’s my friends at Dott Boss. An incredible culinary experience, only surpassed by even more incredible people. ❤️ P.S. Please come visit us in Canada. I’ll cook for you this time. 🇨🇦
John Buckner a month agoWe chose Dott Boss for breakfast based on the menu and reviews, but unfortunately our experience fell short of expectations. The restaurant appeared to be significantly understaffed, which likely contributed to several issues during our visit. I ordered the Steak & Two Eggs and requested my steak medium rare. It arrived well done with no pink whatsoever. While I understand mistakes happen, a steak cooked that far beyond the requested temperature is difficult to overlook, especially when it is one of the more expensive breakfast items on the menu. The breakfast potatoes were also inconsistent. Some pieces were cooked properly, while many others were extremely hard and crunchy when bitten into, creating an unpleasant texture and making the dish difficult to enjoy. To make matters worse, one of our meals was served on a chipped plate with a noticeable section missing from the rim. This should have been caught and removed from service before reaching a guest’s table. The staff members we interacted with were friendly and professional despite clearly being stretched thin. Unfortunately, between the staffing shortage, the overcooked steak, the poorly prepared potatoes, and the chipped plate, the overall experience did not reflect the quality level suggested by the menu prices and atmosphere. There is potential here, but management needs to focus on staffing and quality control to ensure guests receive the experience they are paying for.
kylee oleksy a year agoReally pretty spot right downtown. Food was excellent. I had the Breakfast sandwich and my husband had steak and eggs. His stake was so tender it would fall apart as you stabbed it. Whatever seasonings they put on the breakfast sandwich (maybe it's the mustard?) were delicious. And the breakfast potatoes were cooked to perfection.
L Wilson 2 months agoI took my family out for a celebratory dinner. Only thing we could focus on was how bad the food was. We ordered an appetizer for the table and four entrees and three sprites. The food was underwhelming and the sodas were flat. Also we couldn’t order any adult beverages as they lost their liquor license so no alcoholic drinks. However, kudos to the designer of the restaurant. The decor was inviting. Will not patronize this establishment again.
Brandon Rivera 3 years agoWe stayed at The Hotel Indigo and didn’t know this place was attached to it. We received vouchers with our stay for free breakfast (up to $17 per person) and were pleasantly surprised about the food. Breakfast: The egg sandwiches were huge and the bagels were soft. The potatoes are the best. Perfectly seasoned and a little bit of crunch. The French toast was a good portion and super tasty. Again, the breakfast potatoes 👌 Yogurt and jam was a little bland but if you’re into not so sweet, this could work for you. The breakfast tacos were on the money! Definitely give these a try. So much flavor and good portion. The eggs Benedict was tasty and a good portion. Best part are those potatoes with it! Dinner: Nachos were ehhhh, not very good in my opinion. Just very basic and no shine to them. Alfredo dish was really good and the portion was great. Super tasty and not tooo creamy and we added the broccoli for some added flavor. Tenders salad was very basic and not worth the price. Drinks: Bloody Mary was made just right and hit the spot for an early morning pick me up. Mimosa was mixed perfectly and tasted great. All in all we had great experiences dining here. The food for the most part was good and the plate portions are generous. I think the prices are a little high but I guess that’s the trend in downtown Kansas City! Give this place a try.
