Landing in Nashville in the afternoon, we were thrilled to find a farm to table dinner option right across the street from our hotel (Urban Cowboy). We chose to enjoy the spring evening vibes by sitting outdoors. Service was efficient and attentive. (“Y’all still doin’ alright?” Is the local vernacular for “do you need anything?”). The food was solid, well thought out and reflective of the region. One dish not to miss was the SM grilled 12oz bone-in pork chop with smoked mac and cheese and greens. The pork has some nice char and clean, balanced meaty-ness. The texture was a little tight but once off the bone, it ate just fine. The mac and cheese was good but I was hoping for more smoke. The greens were my favorite element with a subtle sweetness that brought the whole plate together. For our first meal off the plane in a new city, it was a great find and set some high expectations for the rest of our trip. Good for kids and families. Great option to roll across the street to Urban Cowboy for drinks, fire pits and live music after dinner.

While I was at Fleet Street Pub, I met a local Arsenal fan who gave me a list of local restaurants he and his lovely lady think are must try spots in Nashville. Tonight, my friend, Robert and I decided to go to one of them, Lockeland Table, located in a residential neighborhood. Arriving can be deceptive, as it sits on a street corner in a residential neighborhood of older craftsman cottages and bungalows. It is a New American/New Southern restaurant, providing modern takes on classic dishes. My friend started with the Dolly, a riff on a classic gin martini made with Portsmith Gin and a caper-lemon infused dry vermouth. I had a smoked old fashioned cocktail. For appetitizers, we selected the bibb lettuce salad with fried green tomato for Robert. He loved the salad and raved about the tomatoes. I had the beef marrow with charred toast points. It was a generous portion of 3 split and halved beef leg bones, flaked salt, and charred toast points. Lovely char and the salt brought out the velvety unctuous umami of the broiled marrow. For our mains, Robert led with the Cajun blackened shrimp with smoky grits. The shrimp were cooked to tender perfection. The spice played wonderfully off of the smoky, creamy, home-style hominy grits. I followed the recommendation of Kevin, our waiter, and selected the pan seared pork chop with stewed spinach and southern (white homestyle) macaroni and cheese. The pork chop was a gargantuan slab of pork with a delectable crust and cooked to a juicy, tender medium. While the macaroni and cheese was less distinctive, it was still bathed with a creamy béchamel cheese sauce. We wrapped up with desert. Robert had to realign his expectations after receiving the Bananas Foster bread pudding, because he was so excited to see the words Bananas Foster in the title that he overlooked that it was a bread pudding spin on the mid 20th century classic. I wrapped up my meal by again following Kevin's suggestion of a classic southern style strawberry shortcake. This replaced the usual shortcake with a tender flaky biscuit and added a lemony whipped cream. 10/10 and would be worth making a special trip to Nashville just to dine here.

First time here and we are definitely coming back. Fabulous experience. Our server, Hunter, was on point, and very friendly. We ordered the bread which today was a cornbread with chilis. Outstanding. My wife got the stroganoff. Equally excellent. I had the flat iron steak and it was as good or better than expensive steak houses. If you live in Middle Tennessee or are visiting, you won't be disappointed.

Went during community hour! Their community support is so cool. But, the drinks we had during this time appeared to be batch made and served without ice or anything. The artichoke dip was very yummy! But the tacos were a bit bland.

Ok… first off this place was so cool. The vibe was amazing and the waiter was great! He read the group well and what foods they would like. Really appreciate a good waiter who can read the room and what experience we want. He was attentive and helpful with our questions. Always appreciated. The food was DIVINE. Absolutely delicious. All of us loved each option. For the GF peeps- this doesn’t have a ton of options so just know that going in. however, the roasted chicken was so good it didn’t matter if I couldn’t try other options. The green beans were also exceptional! We loved it.
