Winston Blakely a month agoThe Porch is a cool concept. It's southern style food in the heart of downtown Sacramento. The food is really good, but it stops short of great. The grits are far too sweet for my personal taste preference. The biscuits are overcooked for some reason. Everything else was excellent. The bar was also a highlight. The entire staff was friendly. One big knock on them is that meals often take over an hour to arrive at your table after an order is placed. This is too long for lunch. The prices are reasonable. I think The Porch is worth trying, and then judge for yourself.
Michael Benner 2 months agoWent for dinner. We had a couple of cocktails (the lemonade one and the old fashioned. Both were delish!) For dinner, we had the grilled bread as an app, and she had the smothered pork chop and I had the brisket meatloaf. Spectacular! Service was spot on, too! Nicely done, Porch!
Mayra Deleon 2 months agoWent on a Saturday for brunch with three other people and when I asked the wait time, the host took awhile to seat us, even though I said we were ok with outside. At the end, we ended up seating outside and all the time wasted could have been to help other people. Our server was friendly, but since we were outside she would take awhile to come outside. The meatloaf was a big plate and my husband could not finish it. He did say it was a bit salty. The shrimp and grits were great (would recommend). My son's chicken tenders were great as well and looked homemade and not like it came from a frozen bag. There is paid parking around the area. It was a 60 degree day but with jackets on, the weather felt amazing. When we had stepped into the restaurant it had felt too stuffy, so I am glad we got to seat outside.
Brittney S 3 months agoThe food was great across the board, but the chicken and waffles were hands down the best I’ve had, and I’ve tried a lot of places. The beignets weren’t my favorite, but I’ve had some amazing ones elsewhere, so I’ll admit I’m a tough critic when it comes to those. What really made the experience though was the service. From the moment we sat down to the end of brunch, everything was seamless. Sky was incredible! very attentive, friendly, and just made the whole vibe even better. Between the food, atmosphere, and top-tier service, I’d absolutely come back and recommend it for brunch.
Ronda Fulster 2 months agoWe were looking forward to eating dinner here before a show at the Community Center. My husband ordered the meatloaf and I ordered the avacado salad from the small plates. The meatloaf apparently made with ground beef and ground brisket was a pile of cold, unflavored, strange textured meat covered in a ton of gravy, the biscuit was hard as a rock and the food was lukewarm warm at best. The a avacado salad consisted of deep fried avacado slices and feta cheese on a bed of lettuce with what I think was thousand island dressing which had absolutely no flavor. The waiter was also filling in for the bartender knew nothing about the menu and service with extremely slow. Although the restaurant is an an old house with a porch to resemble that old southern charm of being at Grandmas it is unkept and worn out.
