Margaret S 6 months agoCumbia is a delightful addition to Omaha’s food scene. Nestled away on up & coming 16th Street, this gorgeous spot boasts tall windows, is filled with natural light and an army of trailing plants hang from the ceilings. The place is beautiful. Visually, Cumbia is stunning. The food, drinks and service are all top notch as well. My husband and I enjoyed the Velvet Manzano & the Peach Dreams cocktails—both of which were menu items created by our server and bartender, Noah. Not only does Noah have an exceptional pallet, but top tier service seemed effortless. We tried the Tacos Picanha, the beef empanadas and the Carnitas Bravas, which you can bury me with. The pricing is reasonable, the dishes & drinks are fresh and flavorful, the service is just right and the environment is photo worthy. Cumbia will become a staple recommendation.
Susan Haro 6 months agoMust visit Cumbia Omaha! Everything we ordered was delicious, including the drinks and dessert. The environment is very welcoming. They have happy hour Monday-Friday 4pm to 6pm. Staff were very knowledgeable about different plates and drinks served. Great experience.
Amy E. 6 months agoDare I say, best restaurant in Omaha? Certainly the most creative cocktail menu. With all the beautiful plants, cozy lights, and delicious food to me, it’s a winner. Service is phenomenal. Music is a vibe. I ordered the strawberry margarita and it was perfectly balanced. Then I ordered their Peach Dreams and it was delightful! I cannot emphasize how good their food is. It’s KILLER. Highly recommend the Picanha tacos. We ordered them TWICE in one sitting because they were that good. So uhh yeah, new fav restaurant. Shoutout our server, Dom, really good at their job.
Connor L 5 months agoWe had a good time at Cumbia, the vibes right when you walk in are great, music going, chatter from other tables, people just seemed to be having a genuinely good time. Service was also spectacular I didn’t catch our servers name but they were great. Seemed to have a ton of tables in the small place along with seating people. Friendly, knowledgeable of the menu, and checked on us a perfect amount not too much or too little. I could see it being a touch loud for some people but it didn’t bother us at all. We also were seated close to a speaker. The place in general is small so when it’s full it’s just gonna be a little loud. Drinks, I had the enigma pour which is a bartenders choice. My drink was pink in color and almost tasted like a starburst with a touch of sour. I enjoyed it. My wife had Pinot noir which she said was good. For food we did the guacamole which was the star of the show for us. Had great flavor and thought the plantain chips were a great compliment to it. Next we enjoyed the empanadas the best. We got the beef ones the outside was fried to a perfect crisp and the meat inside had a nice seasoning. Next we got the shrimp ceviche, this wasn’t our favorite take on ceviche seemed like it was swimming in the sauce it came with which was sorta an aioli of sorts with a sweet after taste. It was good just too much for us. We also didn’t enjoy the tails still on the shrimp so you had to disassemble them to eat would’ve preferred them tailless and chopped to get the full effect and easier to eat with the plantain chips. Lastly the cheese bites they were solid not sure I’d order again. It did come with a lot of them and the sauces they came with were good, one more of a sweet jam and the other a red savory sauce with a very little kick of heat. I would suggest reservations as it is a small place. Especially if you’re planning to go before an event nearby. Overall a nice experience and I’d come again.
Kathleen Folkerts 4 months agoCumbia is definitely a whole vibe and I am absolutely here for it. The cozy atmosphere provides great ambiance complete with fresh plants everywhere! It transports you to a different place! The tapas game has been lacking in Omaha since Espana closed their doors and while this is not an apples to apples comparison, it does start to fill the need. Typically tapas are a couple of smaller items - I would say these run on the heavier appetizer category. Regardless what you call them, they are flipping delicious! On this trip, to drink our table ordered a Margarita and a Paloma-mia [Paloma mocktail]. Both were spot on in flavor and balance! For food we ordered 4 things, two of them at the recommendation of our waiter. 1. We got the Yuca something something - of course I cannot find it on their website! It is their take on a pot roast and potatoes. The meat was fork tender, brown sauce was so flavorful and the bed of whatever were amazing cheesy goodness. 2. Frying Cheese: I am not typically huge on fried food so I wasn't hyped about these. They are good and very light surprisingly. The spicy strawberry jam is the star of the dish IMO. 3. Carnita Bravas: The Salsa brava is the star of the dish, I could have eaten a bowl of that with the spoon! Much like the cheese cubes, the potatoes were very light despite being fried. 4. Cartagena Shrimp Ceviche: I was hoping to get the Peruvian Ceviche as it is more traditional but the person I went with is not a raw fish kind of person so we opted for this. The flavor was amazing! The shrimp were whole whereas I would have expected chopped for a ceviche. The Plantains, were plentiful and we really only needed maybe half. Overall, fantastic add to Omaha's food scene and I can't wait to go back!
