One of my favorite places in town. Ben’s stalwart Gussie’s manages to tick so many seemingly disconnected boxes - great bar, with inventive cocktails. But a comfort food local place. Or maybe a beer geek temple - for those who know good breweries that aren’t trendy but were solid 20 years ago and still frigging are. Someone knows. Yeah Budweiser maybe could be upscaled a little but someone knows Lawson’s and 3 Floyd’s and even tonight’s surprise of Festina Peche from Dogfish Head that’s been awesome for what, 25 years? They regularly find things that I’ve not seen on tap in ages. The food - non beef eaters might need a minute but there’s choices there but the smash burgers are a work of art. Cocktails are inventive and excellent and the staff is awesome. A quibble - it’s a loud room so maybe the music could be a smidge lower so people don’t shout over it and it just gets very loud. But that’s a quibble. It’s comfy, it’s familiar, it’s good. Come here. Except when I want to come here because I want a seat at the bar, ok?

Amazing. The animal fries are way better than in-and-out. I'll be cooking back just for the fries and drinks 😁 🍷 The burger and wings we good. 8 / 10 The vibe is nice and very clean.

Burgers were amazing, we tried the jalapeño and the veggie one. Both were top notch. Cocktails also superb and staff was really nice and friendly.

We stopped in to check this place out and grab a drink. The atmosphere is very cool! Love the bar set up and a separate coffee bar at the other end of the restaurant. The bartender was great! Very friendly and knowledgeable. Their lunch menu wasn't huge (which makes sense), but they did have quite a few options that were either gluten free or could be made gluten free. They had some that were vegetarian, but none that were vegan. However, for their dinner menu, there were more options that could be made vegan. Still not a lot for someone like me, but I like that the menu rotates every few months and they are open to suggestions (so I'm hoping that means they have some more gluten free vegan options in the future). Their alcoholic selection for gluten free isn't stupendous. They had a cider, wine and mixed drinks, but no gluten free beer. I spoke with them about bringing some in, so I'm hopeful that they will consider it in the future.

If you’re in Raleigh, you’ve gotta check this place out. From the second you walk in, everyone is super friendly and makes you feel right at home. The staff is awesome—easygoing, attentive, and just good people all around. Service is smooth and easy. Drinks come out quick, no hassle, and they always seem to know exactly what to recommend. Everything we had was solid—just really good, well-made drinks you can count on. The best part though is the vibe. Gussie’s has that laid-back, community feel where people are just hanging out, talking, and having a good time. It’s not trying too hard—it just is a great spot. Easy 5 stars. Definitely a go-to place in Raleigh.
