We had high hopes for this restaurant. Service and atmosphere: The restaurant is located in a beautiful Pearl district and looks very elegant both outside and inside. Clean, organised and modern. Service was what ruined the experience for us. Unfortunately, our waiter wasn’t attentive at all. We couldn’t order additional drinks or food items because the waiter didn’t come back to our table. We had to ask another waiter for a check. At the end the waiter apologised but the atmosphere was ruined. Food and drinks: Food we ordered was good except for chicken breast that was dry. The collard greens were very well seasoned and tasted great. Gumbo was served on a hot plate, however, the food temperature was on a cooler side. Good flavour and addition of alligator meat was a surprise. Tuna tartare was pretty good. The chicharrón over powered the overall taste in our options. The drink menu is excellent. Pricing: $$/$ - not overpriced for two year straight Michelin Bib Gourmand recognised restaurant.

This was my second visit to Southerleigh Fine Food & Brewery. The first time I came here, I had a great experience and gave the restaurant a 5-star rating. Unfortunately, this visit did not live up to that standard, mainly due to the service. The food itself was decent. While looking through the menu, my friends and I found some of the dish names a bit difficult to understand, so we checked the Google review photos to get a better idea of what some items looked like. When our server came by, we asked about a few dishes we saw in the photos. She explained that those items were either seasonal or part of the brunch menu, which was completely understandable. We then took a few recommendations from her and placed our order. However, shortly after walking away, she returned within about five seconds and said, “If you eat here regularly, you would know.” The comment felt unnecessary and caught us off guard. Our drinks and water were served first, and everything seemed normal. About 55 minutes after we placed our order, she came back to check on us again. We smiled and said we were doing well and were ready for the food. She responded by rolling her eyes and saying that the food takes time because it’s made from scratch. We absolutely understand and appreciate that quality food takes time, but the tone and attitude made the interaction uncomfortable. When it was time to pay, my friend handed over the card. Before she processed it, I asked if there was a military discount available. She ignored the question and immediately ran the card. When I asked again, she said the payment had already been processed and that she would have to cancel the transaction to apply anything. It felt like the question was intentionally avoided. Despite the experience, my friend still left the standard 20% tip. Overall, the main issue during this visit was the service. We didn’t feel particularly welcomed or comfortable. Because of this experience, I’m not sure if I would return or recommend the restaurant again, which is disappointing given how much I enjoyed my first visit. Getting seated on a Sunday afternoon at 1pm was relatively quick for a party of 4. Not busy. Service was slow and food took around 20 minutes to come out. Drinks were good. Atmosphere and decor is well done. Oysters mid, Shakshuka was okay, the best dish was Crawfish roll the chicken and waffles were disappointing…

I loved everything I had in this place - it’s a great spot for a date! What to get: • Snapper Throats: Highly recommend these. They come with 4 pieces and pair really well with the celery root remoulade, which cuts right through the oiliness of the fried fish. • Cracker Crusted Redfish: The lemon is really appetizing, and the blue crab on top adds a great sweetness to the dish.

The staff was super friendly and they were very accommodating. I got a simple breakfast plate which was good but the potatoes were meh. The chicken and waffles were fantastic. That chicken had a wonderful flavor and paired so good with the waffle. We did order the fried green tomatoes because of the movie, and sweet Odins beard. These were so good. I truly feel that it was the best thing on our table. I would order these again in a heart beat. Overall the food was good and the staff was better, and the beer was really good. Its a shame I cant buy it down here where I live.
